Growing up, roller skating was an escape from a complicated childhood and something she loved and excelled at. She was at the rink any time she had the opportunity. She watched roller derby on TV, was a big fan of Blonde Bomber and dreamed of someday joining a roller derby team. Fate stepped in, life happened and the roller derby revival ended.

 

Lu-natic was shocked when her daughter (now Jax) told her that her and her grand daughter (now Boxcar) were joining a roller derby team! Grandson (PainCake) also joined the team  as soon as he was old enough to play.

 

How exciting that roller derby was back! Many things had changed from the 'Old School' style of derby but it was thriving once again and quickly became a family affair. Tho a medical situation and past injuries keep her off skates, she still has the opportunity to be involved by heading up the team of NSO's, Non Skating Officials, that help make bouts possible. The NSO team includes many wonderful people including her Hubby Bob (Bongone) and daughter (Peace KeepHer).

 

Thru derby, the family has expanded to include many non-blood related amazing people in the derby community. Each is unique and each bring something different to the sport. It allows you to be you without judgement. These aren't 'cookie cutter' follow the crowd folks and she loves the versatility of it and to see the personal growth of each and every one! Roller derby has a spot for anyone who loves the sport.
